about

I Saw the Cat is a traditional fling or barndance that has its home in both Scotland and Ireland. In Ireland it is known as Lucy Farr's Fling, but in a session in the Edinburgh musical meeting place that is Sandy Bell's bar, I learned that in the Western Isles it has Gaelic lyrics that translate as "I Saw the Cat..." Hence the title here.

Napoleon Crossing the Alps I learned from a recording of Andy Macnamara, the County Clare button box player. The title is one of a few that reference Napoleon Bonaparte's exploits, this one in 1800 and the subject of painting.

This is the first release of a mini project entitled The Flow. Look out for more releases coming soon.
